"My education transformed my life," says Peter Rittner, assistant dean for educational technology in UB’s College of Arts and Sciences. He is married to Barbara Rittner, associate professor, associate dean for external affairs and director of the PhD program in UB’s School of Social Work. Barbara recalls the difficult financial circumstances she found herself in when she attended college—both of her parents had died. “I had no idea how I was going to pay for college,” she says. A professor paid her tuition and board until she could get her bearings. Now they both want to help students and have named UB as a beneficiary in their will.
