"We fulfilled the American dream."
David Chu, PhD ’75, said he and his wife, Jane Chu
’75, “fulfilled the American dream,” thanks to
their education from UB Pharmacy. Both retired from the University
of Georgia, the Chus created a family foundation with their
physician daughters, Susan and Jaclyn. Their gift to UB established
scholarships and an annual lecture series.
Matthew Schnupp, one of five Chu Scholarship recipients, is 2012
class president and a PharmD candidate. He said the Chus’
“gracious donation” allowed him to explore career
options in pharmacy practice. “I want to help ensure patient
medication safety and improve therapeutic outcomes without
sacrificing a patient’s quality of life,” he said.
Amy Suen, a 2014 PharmD candidate, also will seek work with
“a focus on medication safety and effectiveness.” Given
the decrease in available financial aid, she is “very
thankful” for the Chus’ support, which makes it
possible for her and many future UB students to complete their
education and fulfill dreams of their own.
