“Thanks to you, I will become an art teacher.”

Rachel Higgins considers reading novels “too enjoyable to be classified as homework” and remembers fondly family visits to museums as a child. Attracted to UB for “its great arts program,” she went on to receive a UB Presidential Scholarship, the Larry Mitchelson Fine Arts Scholarship and the John D. Gallatin International Honors Scholarship for study abroad, all of which have helped her afford the university. Donations to these financial awards made a difference for Rachel, who will attend graduate school for art education this fall, planning to become a working artist who “hopefully will inspire my own students to be creative.”
