“Thanks to you, I'm forever a Buffalo Bull. And I wouldn't want it any other way.”

John Syty is the first recipient of the 1958 Lambert Cup Team Football Scholarship, given to student-athletes in honor of the historic UB team. He walked on to the team at 6’ 3”, 175 lbs., starting as the scout team punter.  He added 50 pounds, worked hard and now he's projected as starting middle linebacker for the 2011 season, his last. John received his BS in business administration this spring. He plants to earn an MBA and then work in hospital administration. He wrote this to the 1958 team: “My promise to you is that you won't find a harder working, more relentless individual.” He'll continue to make us proud.
