“Thanks to you, I will be a professor or lawyer.”

Alex Teschemacher was just another UB student before becoming a lifesaver. The history-political science double major who signed up for the National Marrow Donor Program at its Student Union recruiting table said “a year later, I was on the operating table.” Of 12 possible matches for a pre-leukemia patient, Alex was the donor who provided a successful transplant. Filled with gratitude for “awesome” professors who helped him make up for missed classes, Alex also appreciates donations that helped fund his Acker scholarship that frees him from becoming “buried in student loans.” He'll attend law school and graduate school to become a lawyer or history professor.
