Dear Classmates:
Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that we were filling out college applications and securing teacher recommendations? Now, as our senior year races along, it is job applications and alumni networking that occupy our time. However, before we begin to say our good-byes, we have an opportunity to leave our mark here at UB. One of the traditions that UB students have established is the Senior Challenge.
What is the Senior Challenge? A way for graduating students to say “thank you” to the University at Buffalo by making a financial contribution of $20.08 – in recognition of our class year.
Why should you give? You probably think we’re crazy to ask for money when you haven’t even graduated yet and times are tough. But times are tough for UB too. State funding only provides one-third of the cost of our education. The Senior Challenge, along with ongoing alumni support, helps to maintain UB’s reputation of academic excellence and ensure the lasting value of our degrees.
Where will your money go? You can make your gift to any UB school or program. Also, a portion of the money raised will purchase the Senior Tree, to be planted on UB Pride Day on April 29, 2008.
How can you participate?A fellow student will be contacting you by phone asking for your gift. You can make a gift by check or credit card, or you can make a pledge. A pledge is simply a promise made in good faith that you will pay later. For your convenience, make your gift online at www.giving.buffalo.edu/seniorchallenge.
When you receive your phone call, please consider making a gift of $20.08. Our main goal is participation, so gifts of all sizes will make a difference. Thank you!Sincerely,
2008 Senior Challenge Campaign Co-chairs
