Since 1984, the Senior Challenge has offered graduating seniors the opportunity to leave their mark on the University at Buffalo in a very tangible and enduring way. Many of the gifts have funded capital improvements to both campuses, including:
Class Year 2005
Some members of the class of 2005 help plant the senior tree between Hochstetter and Capen halls on UB's North Campus.
Class Year 2004
The class raised $11,795 in commitments from 471 seniors to the school, program or area at UB of their choice. Jessica Yacovoni, chair of the Senior Challenge Committee and a Class of 2005 finance major, said the number of students giving to this year’s drive has been impressive. “I’m excited by the response and by the dollar amount we’ve raised so far,” Yacovoni said. “The Class of 2004 has proven already that it can meet significant challenges.”
Class Year 2003
Students and parents have been big boosters of the Random Acts of Kindness Fund. More than 6,000 students, parents, friends, and student organizations have contributed to the fund so far, raising nearly $125,000. The Random Acts of Kindness fund has helped its first four students who found themselves facing unexpected financial emergencies. Read more on how this fund originated.

In keeping with the name, The Campaign for UB: Generation to Generation, the seniors of 2001 pooled their challenge funds and bought a grandfather clock, which will chime for generations to come.

Leaving a legacy The Senior Challenge gifts come from graduating seniors, who have been inspired by the university’s long-lasting values of scholarship and professionalism. They have discovered that UB is a place where their lives intersected and a lifetime of memories was compressed into a few short years. And they simply want to say thank you.
