Keep Your Mind Open and Your Mouth Shut

by Jim Gannon

Always keep an open mind. Keep your mind open and your mouth shut, so to speak.

I think too many people come to college with too many bags around their shoulders. I brought some bags, too, but I also let loose of a lot of bags that I had. I think if you go through college sort of ready for anything and knowing that you have the ability to make decisions against anything, then you will have a much richer education.

If you go through college thinking, "I know what I know; these are my ideas and thoughts, and you can't change that," then you're going to be more ignorant than when you started out.

I learned so much the first week of college. I think the first year of college you learn more about life than you learned your total four years of high school.
