What Your Gifts Mean to UB

As a public institution of higher education, UB receives less than one third of its funding from state appropriations. (Tuition is what helps make up the rest of the budget.) This makes support from the university’s alumni and friends critical to UB’s mission of offering outstanding research and educational opportunities along with a commitment to public service outreach to local and global communities.

Your gifts help support:

  • Scholarships and financial aid, which provide access for academically qualified students to study at UB
  • Faculty development, such as endowed faculty chairs and visiting lecturer series, which maintain UB’s legacy of academic excellence.
  • Research funds to help faculty—who engage undergraduate and graduate students in the process—make important advances in health care, science, the arts and humanities.
  • Facilities construction and improvement and other special projects that ensure that UB students and faculty have the resources they need for scholarly pursuits.
  • Unrestricted resources, which provide crucial, flexible funding to meet the university’s areas of greatest needs.

If you would like to find out more about why your support matters, we invite you to read our newsletter. (PDF)
