To advance the mission of the University at Buffalo by encouraging partnerships and by providing opportunities for meaningful and enduring engagement among the university’s communities, both external and internal, through alumni outreach, communication and fostering philanthropic investment.
The Division of External Affairs comprises the areas of Alumni Relations and Development and works closely with the UB Foundation. Alumni Relations serves and engages more than 184,000 UB alumni worldwide, offering services ranging from regional and international chapters, volunteer opportunities, career and mentoring services to reunions and special events around the nation and around the globe.
Development is the primary fund-raising function of the university. It works with alumni, friends, foundations, corporations and organizations inviting and supporting active support of UB’s goals. In addition to supporting the university as a whole, development efforts also include targeted programs for each of the 13 decanal units, athletics, university libraries, university honors programs, the arts and WBFO.
The mission of the University at Buffalo Foundation is to support and promote the activities and programs of UB. In doing so, the foundation administers resources and supervises the investment of philanthropic funds and other revenues for the university.
